Assistant Rice maintenance Tech

Job Summary:

The Clean Rice Assistant Maintenance Technician supports the mechanical and electrical maintenance of rice cleaning and processing equipment. This role assists with troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining machinery to ensure consistent production flow and equipment reliability. Working under the Maintenance Supervisor or Lead Technician, the position focuses on both hands-on mechanical tasks and basic electrical work within the clean rice area.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform mechanical and electrical inspections on rice cleaning equipment such as destoners, sifters, polishers, conveyors, elevators, and related machinery.

  • Assist with diagnosing and repairing mechanical issues, including belts, bearings, chains, motors, and gearboxes.

  • Help troubleshoot basic electrical problems, including sensors, switches, motors, wiring, and control panels (under supervision and within safety guidelines).

  • Conduct preventive maintenance tasks such as lubrication, tension adjustments, replacing worn parts, and cleaning electrical components.

  • Support installation, calibration, and alignment of machinery and electrical components.

  • Assist with monitoring equipment performance and responding to equipment downtime in a timely manner.

  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, parts used, and repairs performed.

  • Ensure all maintenance work follows safety procedures, including lockout/tagout and food safety compliance.

  • Maintain a clean, organized work area and ensure proper handling of tools and electrical equipment.

  • Work closely with production teams to minimize interruptions and maintain efficient workflow.

  • Perform other related duties as needed to support the maintenance team.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training in mechanics or electrical work preferred.

  • Hands-on mechanical experience (agricultural processing, industrial maintenance, or similar field preferred).

  • Basic knowledge of electrical systems, motors, sensors, and troubleshooting techniques.

  • Ability to read or learn to read mechanical drawings and simple electrical schematics.

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in dusty, warm, or noisy environments.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Willingness to work overtime or weekends when required.
