Schedule: 40 hours per week-Flex

Position Overview

 

The Operations Manager provides hands-on leadership and day-to-day oversight of contract transportation operations, ensuring safety, service excellence, and operational standards are consistently achieved.

This role is responsible for daily site operations, driver performance, staffing, scheduling, and resource coordination while promoting a culture of safety, accountability, and high performance. As a highly visible operational leader, the Operations Manager works closely with senior operations leadership to strengthen service delivery, develop frontline leaders, maintain strong client relationships, and continuously improve operational efficiency.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Operations & Service Delivery

  • Lead day-to-day contract operations to ensure safe, reliable, efficient, and high-quality transportation services.
  • Oversee daily site and lot operations, including driver deployment, dispatch coordination, scheduling, and resource allocation.
  • Monitor service performance and proactively address operational issues that could impact customers or contractual requirements.
  • Ensure adequate staffing and equipment resources are available to meet daily and anticipated operational demands.
  • Identify opportunities to improve productivity, service consistency, and overall operational performance.

 

Team Leadership & Development

  • Provide hands-on leadership to drivers, dispatchers, supervisors, and other frontline team members.
  • Establish clear performance expectations and reinforce a culture of accountability, professionalism, teamwork, and customer service.
  • Support the recruitment, onboarding, training, coaching, and development of drivers and frontline leaders.
  • Monitor employee performance, attendance, scheduling, and labor utilization.
  • Coach and develop supervisors and emerging leaders to strengthen operational leadership capabilities.
  • Promote employee engagement and effective communication across the operation.

 

Safety & Compliance

  • Champion a safety-first culture throughout all aspects of the operation.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable safety standards, transportation regulations, company policies, and client requirements.
  • Partner closely with Safety leadership to address incidents, performance concerns, training needs, and corrective actions.
  • Reinforce safe driving practices and operational procedures through consistent leadership and accountability.
  • Lead by example in professionalism, integrity, safety, and operational discipline.

 

Client & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Serve as a key operational point of contact for client communication and service-related matters.
  • Build strong working relationships with clients and respond promptly to service needs, concerns, and changing operational requirements.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources, Safety, Maintenance, and other departments to support smooth and compliant operations.
  • Partner with senior operations leadership on staffing strategies, workforce planning, service improvements, and operational priorities.
  • Support implementation of new contracts, operational changes, and continuous-improvement initiatives as needed.

 

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in operations management, transportation, logistics, shuttle operations, fleet operations, or a similar leadership role.
  • Demonstrated experience leading frontline employees in a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond effectively to changing operational demands.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multiple departments and levels of leadership.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Commitment to safety, customer service, accountability, and operational excellence.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in passenger transportation, shuttle, motorcoach, fleet, logistics, or contract service operations.
  • Experience managing drivers, dispatch, scheduling, and/or multi-shift operations.
  • Knowledge of DOT and transportation safety requirements.
  • Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Passenger Endorsement and Air Brake certification highly preferred, but not required.
