Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Mortgage Loan Processor to join our residential lending team in an Assistant Vice President (AVP) capacity. This position is responsible for managing residential mortgage loan files from application through closing while ensuring accuracy, regulatory compliance, and an exceptional borrower experience.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in residential mortgage loan processing, excellent organizational and communication skills, and the ability to successfully manage multiple loans and closing deadlines. Experience processing both in-house portfolio loans and secondary-market mortgage loans is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities
- Process residential mortgage loan applications from application through closing.
- Review loan files for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with applicable requirements.
- Order, obtain, and track appraisals, title work, credit reports, flood certifications, insurance, and other required documentation.
- Obtain and verify borrower income, assets, employment, and other supporting documentation.
- Communicate regularly with borrowers, loan officers, underwriters, appraisers, title companies, insurance providers, and other third parties.
- Prepare complete loan packages for underwriting and monitor outstanding underwriting conditions through final clearance.
- Process both in-house portfolio loans and secondary-market loans.
- Ensure mortgage files comply with applicable bank policies, investor requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
- Maintain complete and accurate loan documentation while following established lending procedures.
- Monitor the mortgage pipeline, key milestones, and closing deadlines to ensure loans remain on schedule.
- Proactively identify and assist in resolving documentation, underwriting, or closing issues that could delay a loan.
- Provide borrowers and internal partners with timely updates throughout the mortgage process.
- Deliver a high level of customer service and professionalism throughout each transaction.
- Work closely with the lending team to support an efficient, compliant, and positive mortgage experience from application through closing.
- Minimum 5 years of mortgage loan processing experience.
- Knowledge of residential mortgage lending processes and loan documentation.
- Strong attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple active loan files, priorities, and deadlines simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong computer, documentation, and recordkeeping skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a team.
- Experience processing both portfolio and secondary-market residential mortgage loans.
- Previous banking or financial institution experience.
- At least 1 year of customer service experience.
- Familiarity with investor requirements and residential mortgage regulatory guidelines.
